The solar water heater converts sunlight into heat using a solar thermal collector that captures and retains heat from the sun and transfers this heat to a liquid. The liquid, usually water, in contact with the absorber collects the trapped heat to transfer it to storage. Heat exchangers then transfer the heat from the fluid to the home’s domestic water. As water in the vacuum tubes is heated it rises naturally into the tank, while cooler water in the tank flows down to the bottom of the vacuum tubes, causing circulation throughout the system. The hot water can be used directly, or can be used as a pre-heat.
